The season started with high hopes for the Lions' women's tennis program. The team started the year with individual tournaments in February. The Lions' third event of the season, the Princeton Invitational, saw first-year Melissa Nguyen turn in an impressive performance. She won the singles back draw tournament and then teamed with sophomore Laila Shetty to win the doubles back draw tournament.
After the Princeton Invitational, the team headed to Florida for Spring Break. There, the team faced competition from Florida Atlantic, Barry University, and Lynn University. The team dropped all three matches in Florida, but Head Coach Rob Kresberg attributed the losses to the strength of the Florida schools.
Returning from Spring Break, the Lions continued their losing streak. Due largely to the injuries that shut down first-year Etel Bugescu and sophomore Tina Romic and hampered Shetty, the team's number one player, the Lions failed to notch a victory until their win over Brown on April 14. The win snapped a seven-match losing streak.
The team was able to end the season on a high note. Led by the emergence of sophomore Leena Krishnaswamy, the team was competitive throughout the Ivy season and beat Princeton on April 20, marking the first time in the Lions' history that they had defeated the Tigers.
The Lions finished the season with a record of 11-10. It was the second consecutive season that the team finished above .500.
