Stupid Kids is your classic boy-meets-boy, girl-likes-girl tale. The two popular kids--new-kid Jim (Jordan Forth) and hot stuff Judy (Jessica Durdock, GS '05)--face humiliation for shacking up against clique protocol. Their saga is seen through the eyes of two closeted teens, Kimberly (Rachel Shaw, BC '04) and Neechee (Daryl Wein).
Stupid Kids parodies what Columbia kids love to yammer on about: nerds from the 'burbs remembering the cool kids from yonder-year who have since gotten knocked-up and out of luck.
The script is smattered with campy pseudo-intellectualism. Neechee tells Kimberly that Jim has "romantic notions of aloneness," while Kimberly tells Neechee she doesn't want "any of this Sylvia Plath pessimism on my time."
Often excellent, this Rebel-Without-a-Cause-meets-Taboo production boasts actors performing at a professional level and generates sexy chemistry.
