In a move that will unify several University departments under the Office of Student Services, Lisa Hogarty has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice President of Administrative and Student Services.
Hogarty will continue to report to Senior Executive Vice President Robert Kasdin, the No. 2 administrator in Low Library.
In an e-mail to employees sent July 5, Kasdin wrote that the administrative shakeup "reflect[s] our desire to align operations that support the University, enhance service levels, and identify opportunities for greater efficiencies."
Hogarty, whose former title was vice president of student services, will continue to oversee areas of student life such as housing and dining, health services, and Lerner Hall. Her new responsibilities include managing the University's recently restructured information technology services and the human resources department.
Kasdin, who is one of the main administrators involved in the ongoing efforts to expand into Manhattanville, said that Hogarty's promotion was not related to the expansion project, calling the two "totally unrelated."
In the same July 5 e-mail Kasdin announced another administrative decision: the hiring of a new Vice President for Information Technology.
"Our search identified Candace Fleming, whose educational background in computer science and years of experience in IT and change management make her the right fit for this position," Kasdin wrote. "I am confident that she will serve Columbia well as we continue to advance IT and other priorities for the University."
