The women's swimming and diving team split its two weekend meets at Uris Swim Center, losing 159-84 to defending Ivy league champion Harvard on Friday while defeating Dartmouth 185-113 on Sunday.

The Lions won only two of 13 events on Friday, but they did break one pool record in doing so: the 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Leslie Bailey, freshman Hannah Galey, freshman Casey Weddle, and junior Mary McCue won their event in 1:37.41, breaking the seven-year-old pool record by .21 seconds.

Galey was the Lions' only individual event winner, taking the 50-yard freestyle in 24.39 seconds. Bailey made it a one-two finish for the Lions by taking second in 24.75 seconds.

Four other Lions managed to take second place individually. Junior Lauren Morford took second in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 17:15.73. Freshmen Rachel Coburn and Weddle took second in the 200 butterfly and 100 freestyle, respectively. Also, sophomore Amy Krakauer took second in the 200 breaststroke.

The Lions were much more successful against the Big Green on Sunday, winning the first ten events and 13 of 16 overall.

The team had three double-winners on Sunday in Coburn, Krakauer, and sophomore Juliet DeFrancisco.

Coburn swept the meet's two individual medley events, the 400 IM and 100 IM. She led a 1-2-3 sweep with senior Susannah Knox and junior Sarah Fisher in the latter event.

In the breaststroke events, Krakauer showed some of the dominant form she displayed last year, blowing away the field in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. The sophomore touched nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer in the 100 and nearly five seconds in front of the second-place finisher in the 200.

DeFrancisco gave the Lions their first sweep of the diving events this year, winning on both the one- and three-meter boards.

Five other Lions, four of them freshmen, won individual events against Dartmouth, showing the strength of the recruiting class. Galey led a 1-2 sweep of the 200 freestyle, and classmate Lauren Fraley led a 1-2-3-4 sweep of the 100 backstroke.

Freshman Megan Brown won the 200 butterfly in 2:06.80, and fellow first-year Weddle edged out a Dartmouth competitor by just .01 second for first in the 100 free.

McCue was the Lions' other individual event winner, taking the 50 free in 24.66 seconds.

The Lions will return to action Monday night in the Bronx, taking on Fordham at 6 PM.
