A press conference was held yesterday to show off the ongoing progress toward shutting down the insurgency in Baghdad. Ban Ki-moon was brought in to hold a news conference with Nouri al-Maliki, who has just announced that he will begin negotiations with the insurgents. How went the first visit in a year-and-a-half by a UN official? You be the judge.
In light of yet another failed strategy by the Bush cronies in charge of Iraq, it will be especially interesting to hear the College Republicans try to defend administration policy on April 5th in the second debate with the Dems. There does not seem to be any credible defense of the neocons remaining, but hopefully Kulawik and company will come up with something; if every debate is as lopsided as the last one, the series will probably not last long.
