The following has been getting a lot of play in the blogosphere. Chuck Hagel just brought up the possibility of impeachment as a response to the increasing belligerence of the White House toward the democratic process. I think that it is past time for this option to enter the mainstream discourse. We have seen unprecedented contempt from the Bush administration for the judicial system, the will of Congress, and the will of the people as expressed in both national polls and the 2006 election. If this presidency continues to become more and more imperial and unaccountable, Democrats must bring up articles of impeachment.
