A man suspected of robbing seven local women has been arrested, police said Tuesday. The arrest comes days after police announced they suspected a single man in the string of robberies, and released his description to the public.

After further police investigation of the case, Larry Moye, 48, was arrested on Monday.
Moye is implicated in the muggings of seven young women—all between the ages of 21 and 27—of drawing a knife on one of his victims, and of punching an additional three.

Two of the victims are Columbia students, one of whom was punched several times before being forced to hand over her belongings.

The suspect has also been known to “simulate a firearm” in another one of his robberies.

Vice president of Public Safety James McShane informed Columbia affiliates of the arrest in an e-mail sent Tuesday afternoon.

“Lineups were conducted, and he has been identified as the person responsible, ” McShane wrote.
