» CU Athletic Director Named to Division I FCS Committee

According to a statement issued by the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association, M. Dianne Murphy has been named to the Division I FCS ADA Executive Committee for the 2008-09 academic year.

Murphy is one of several athletics directors to be elected to serve on the committee under newly appointed president Tim Van Alstine, director of athletics at Western Illinois University. Van Alstine succeeds last year's president, Jim Murphy, who will continue to serve on the executive committee as well as the director of athletics at Davidson College.

The Division I FCS ADA is in its 16th year and is a subdivision of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. According to the organization's mission statement, the NACDA is comprised of athletics administrators from more than 1,600 colleges and institutions throughout North America and is dedicated to "enhancing Football Championship Subdivision football."

Murphy is entering her fifth year as the director of athletics at Columbia and will be the lone representative of the Ivy League on the executive committee. Joining her are Jeff Bourne of James Madison University, Charlie Cobb of Appalachian State University, Robert Hill of Stephen F. Austin State University, Brian Hutchinson of Morehead State University, Charlene Johnson of South Carolina State University, Greg LaFleur of Southern University, Patrick Lyons of Iona College, Bruce McCutcheon of Lafayette College, Gene Taylor of North Dakota State University, Ron Strollo of Youngstown State University, Terry Wanless of Sacramento State, Allen Ward of Murray State University, and Donny White of Virginia Military Institute. In addition, Kevin Callahan, head coach of Monmouth University, will represent the football coaches on the executive committee.
