» Fired Professor Madonna Constantine Sues Columbia

The former Teachers College professor who was fired in June following accusations of plagiarism has filed a lawsuit against TC.

Madonna Constantine first attracted the campus and city's attention when she found a noose on her office door in a widely publicized incident last fall. Shortly after, Constantine was accused of publishing the work of her students and colleagues as her own. She filed the suit against the University on Friday in the New York Supreme Court.

She is arguing that "her discharge was arbitrary, irrational, and unauthorized," and calling on the Court to reverse her termination, an Associated Press article reported.

Constantine, who was a tenured professor of clinical psychology at Teachers College, had previously appealed her termination. Columbia spokesman Robert Hornsby declined to comment when reached Friday night.
