A Sunny Day in Glasgow
Wednesday night, Oct. 22 at the Knitting Factory features two of the most talented—and therefore underrated—bands in New York: ambient pop geniuses A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and the almost painfully twee The Lisps. But the best show of the festival might be the opening night aural blowout at Death By Audio, featuring the raucous lineup of Parts & Labor, Fiasco, and Double Dagger. And if I still have my hearing come Saturday night, I’m definitely spending it at Bowery Ballroom with Crystal Antlers, Marnie Stern, and A Place To Bury Strangers.

Beach House
Beach House is becoming my soundtrack for the fall season. Something about their lullaby-like, eerily beautiful music so perfectly complements the dropping temperatures and falling leaves. I’m really looking forward to hearing some of that ghostly loveliness live on Oct. 22 at (Le) Poisson Rouge.

Crystal Castles
Crystal Castles is supposed to be the best live, and I’m hoping that their craziness takes over the CMJ circuit. I’m expecting a lot, so I hope that their synthesizers and dirty cacophony get the crowd riled up on one of the last nights of the marathon. They take the stage Thursday, Oct. 23 at Webster Hall.

Deerhoof
I have loved Deerhoof for many years, but have never seen them live. They are a consistently good band, and their new album is beautiful, so I’m really excited. Their music is so energetic, sweet, and fun that, in my opinion, there is nothing they could be but incredible. They play on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd at the Fillmore New York.
