The women’s golf team will conclude its fall campaign with a trip down south for the UAB Beach Blast, hosted by the University of Alabama. This event will be the Lions’ fifth official tournament of the fall. The team made a solid showing at the Spider Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond, almost three weeks ago—the Light Blue placed fourth out of the 14 participating teams.
The Lions shot a 298 in the first round, their lowest score of the season so far, and shot a 208 in the second round for a total score of 606. The score placed the Lions behind Maryland, Wofford, and Longwood University in the tournament, but ahead of schools such as host Richmond, which finished fifth, and Brown, the only other Ivy League team competing, which finished in 13th place.
Leading Columbia was junior Stevy Loy, who shot 70 on the first day and 75 on the second day— good for third place overall in the field. Other high finishers for the Lions were freshmen Lynda Kwon, who finished in a tie for 13th place individually with a score of 152, and Jennifer Adyorough, who shot 154 to finish in 16th place.
The hosts of the tournament, the UAB Blazers, will enter their tournament looking to shake off some rust after finishing in 11th place at the Lady Red Wolf Classic with a score of 982 over three rounds.
The UAB Beach Blast is a two day competition, scheduled to run on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. The tournament will be held at the Peninsula, located in Gulf Shores, Ala.
