On Tuesday, ten Columbia student-athletes were recognized with 2008-09 Fall Academic All-Ivy honors. To be eligible, each recipient must be a starter or a key reserve on an official varsity team while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 80 men and women from Ancient Eight institutions were selected.

From the Columbia men's soccer team, sophomore forward Bayo Adafin, who recently received second-team All-Ivy honors, and junior midfielder Fredrik Kongsli were named.

In addition, the Lions' women's soccer team had three Academic All-Ivy recipients, including senior Rebecca Taylor, sophomore Lauren Cooke, and Ivy League Player of the Year junior Sophie Reiser.

From the Light Blue football team, first-team All-Ivy recipients Alex Gross and Lou Miller, as well as starting defensive end Phillip Mitchell were honored.

Senior Meaghan Lessard, a second-team All-Ivy recipient, was the lone representative from either cross-country team to receive the award.

Two-time first-team All-Ivy selection Megan Davidson from the Columbia field hockey team rounded out the ten Light Blue selections.
