Friday, Jan. 23: Yale 57, Brown 55
Yale (7-9, 2-0 Ivy) and Brown (6-10, 0-2 Ivy) kicked off the Ivy League basketball weekend with the hometown Bulldogs coming out on top, 57-55. Ross Morin led Yale with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 10 boards. Brown’s Matt Mullery filled up the stat sheet, leading all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, nine rebounds, and an astounding six blocks in the losing effort. The win gave the Elis a season sweep of the Bears. Both Yale and Brown will hit the road this weekend with contests at Columbia and Cornell.

Saturday, Jan. 24: Dartmouth 75, Harvard 66 (OT)
Despite scoring the final five points of regulation, Harvard (9-7, 1-1 Ivy) could not carry that momentum into overtime as Dartmouth (3-13, 1-1 Ivy) outscored the Crimson 13-4 in the extra period en route to a 75-66 win. Big Green forward Alex Barnett led all scorers with 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including 2-of-4 from downtown and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Freshman Keith Wright came off the bench for the Crimson and patrolled the glass, notching 13 rebounds in only 27 minutes. Both teams will be playing host to Penn and Princeton this weekend.

Saturday Jan. 24: St. Joseph’s 80, Penn 68
Scoring runs dominated the tenor of this game. Penn (4-10) was up in the contest 24-8 after the first 9:30 of play and looked poised for an upset over St. Joseph’s (11-7). But the Hawks went on a 21-3 run over the next 6:07 of play to take a 29-27 lead and maintained a 37-34 margin going into halftime. The Hawks eventually pulled away, going on a 21-8 run in the final 7:37 for the 80-68 victory. Ahmad Nivins had a double-double for St. Joe’s, scoring 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and pulling down 17 rebounds in 39 minutes of play. Teammate Darrin Govens added 20 points, six assists, and five boards. Penn is now preparing for two road contests at Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend.

Doug Davis led Princeton (5-8) with 11 points in a 66-44 victory over Concordia College (NY), which fell to 5-14 on the year. The Tigers’ Marcus Schroeder flirted with a double-double (nine points, eight rebounds), and eight Tiger reserves saw action in the blowout. Princeton will take to the road this weekend, visiting Dartmouth and Harvard.
