A man was found dead on the tracks of the northbound 1-train between the 116th and 125th Street stations on Thursday.
The individual was found at 7:40 a.m. The subsequent investigation led to a two hour interruption of service on the northbound 1-line.
"The customer was discovered on the road bed north of 116th Street on the one line, and it wasn't determined that he was killed by the train," Deirdre Parker, a spokesperson for New York City Transit, said on Friday.
Transit officers contacted emergency medical personnel and the New York Police Department. A representative from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information confirmed on Friday that an investigation had begun and would continue following the Medical Examiner's determination of the cause of death.
The man's identity was not released, pending notification of family members.
