A 30-year old male robbed Banco Popular on 111th Street and Broadway on Thursday afternoon, according to NYPD officials.
An officer on site from the local 26th Precinct, who declined to give his name due to administrative protocol, said that a weapon was not involved and no one was injured.
The perpetrator entered the location at 1:25 p.m. and demanded currency from the teller, according to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information. He then fled north on Broadway with an unknown amount of money.
A spokesperson from the DCPI said that the white male perpetrator was wearing a black sweatshirt and a black backpack at the time of the crime.
The Major Case Squad, which specifically handles attempted bank robberies, is currently responding.
Representatives from Banco Popular declined to comment.
