In a game that came down to the wire, Columbia was able to win, 56-55, on a last second jumper by junior forward Brian Grimes, sweeping Penn for the first time since 1968.

Penn opened the scoring with a 3-pointer by Jack Eggleston, but the Lions responded quickly with a jumper by Noruwa Agho. The Agho jumper started a mini 7-0 run for the Light Blue, giving it a 7-3 lead with 16:21 to play.

But the Quakers would respond with a run of their own, taking a 11-9 lead with 12:50 to play. The game would remain close the rest of the half, with Penn taking a 30-27 lead into the locker room.
Agho led all scorers at the half with 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while seniors Kevin Bulger and Niko Scott combined for 11 points.

Penn was led by Zack Rosen, who had 10 first-half points. The Quakers dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Lions 17-9.

The Quakers were able to jump out to a 37-29 lead with 17:26 to play in the second half, but a jumper by Agho and a pair of layups by Agho and Brian Grimes but their lead to two.

After trading baskets back and forth, the Lions would finally tie the game at 45 on a 3-pointer by Niko Scott with 9:15 left to play. Less than two minutes later, Scott would connect again from downtown, giving the Light Blue their first second half lead, 48-45.

Penn would regain the lead though, 51-49, on a trey from Rosen, with 4:42 left to play.

With less than three minutes to go, Agho went to the free-throw line, with Columbia down 51-50. Agho nailed both of them, giving Columbia a one-point advantage. But Penn responded with a 3-pointer by Monckton to regain the lead. With less than a minute to play, Grimes tied the score at 54 with a layup.

A foul by John Daniels sent Eggleston to the line with 33.1 seconds to play. Eggleston made the first, but missed the second and Daniels was able to grab the rebound.

On its final possession of the game, the Light Blue got the ball inside to Daniels, who was fouled on his layup attempt. Daniels missed both though, forcing Agho to foul Eggleston.

Eggleston missed the first of a one and one, giving the Light Blue possession. Down 55-54, Grimes hit a jumper with 2.7 seconds remaining, winning the game for Columbia.
