WOMEN'S LACROSSE
The women’s lacrosse team (4-10, 1-6 Ivy) dropped its final conference game yesterday to Princeton, 18-10. This was the second time this season that the Lions faced off against the Tigers—yesterday’s game was originally scheduled for late March but was postponed due to a thunderstorm.

The first half was an impressive display of offensive talent on both sides of the field, with Columbia and Princeton tallying a combined 18 goals. Princeton found its way onto the scoreboard early, less than two minutes into the first half. The Tigers continued to find the back of the net and led the Light Blue 5-0 after 10 minutes of regulation. Senior attacker Gabrielle Geronimos lit up the scoreboard first for the Lions, scoring on a wide shot. Unfortunately for the Light Blue, it wasn’t enough to break Princeton’s momentum, as the Tigers responded with three unanswered goals. Columbia had a little bit more luck later on, with sophomore attackers Olivia Mann and Kacie Johnson each finding the net once. Both sophomores would score again later in the half, and the Lions entered the intermission trailing Princeton 12-6.

The second half didn’t go much better for Columbia. The Tigers scored two goals five minutes into the half. With 15 minutes left in the game, Princeton led the Lions 17-7. Geronimos and Mann would both pick up another tally, as would junior midfielder Taylor Gattinella, who recorded three goals overall. Junior goalkeeper Karlee Blank had six saves.

TRACK & FIELD
Columbia’s track and field team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., today for the Penn Relays. The Penn Relays is the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States. It expects to attract thousands of competitors from the collegiate, high school, and professional levels.

The Lions plan to compete in a number of competitions, including several relays featuring only Ivy League schools. Among those relays is the women’s 4x400m and the men’s distance medley relay, or DMR, two of the Light Blue’s strongest events.

Sophomore QueenDenise Okeke will take part in the triple jump—an event she has dominated within the Ivy Leagues. Two high jumpers and two long jumpers will also be competing for the Lions.
Junior Kyra Caldwell has had strong performances in numerous events this outdoor season. She will look to post a faster mark in the 400m hurdles, which she will have to do in order to qualify for the NCAAs in May.

The Penn Relays will last until Saturday. It will be the last meet before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships in New Haven, Conn.
