In honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine blessed over two dozen animals on Sunday, form bees to birds, camels to kangaroos.
“We’ve all been blessed already, we’ve been created by a creator who loves us,” Rev. James Kowalski said. “We do this every year to remind us of the blessing of what it means to have these creatures great and small in our lives, how dangerous it is to treat them with disrespect or to create environmental threats that may cause even extinction of some species.”
