Columbia will begin its season at the Michigan State Open this Sunday, Nov. 11. The field for the event will be highly competitive, as seven nationally-ranked schools will make appearances. Wrestlers to watch include sophomore Shane Hughes and senior Jake O’Hara. Hughes placed first in the 197-pound weight class last year and will look to repeat the performance in the 184-pound class this season. O’Hara will attempt to improve on last year’s fourth place in the 157-pound weight class. The team had a good showing at the event last year, with nine Lion wrestlers placing.
