The Light Blue field hockey team began its fall campaign this weekend with a pair of strong victories against Longwood and James Madison.
In their season opener on Friday, the Lions (2-0) took on Longwood at American University in Washington, D.C., where they ultimately cruised to a 5-0 shutout victory. Leading the way for the Light Blue was freshman Katie Ruesterholz, who netted a pair of goals in her collegiate debut. The Light Blue volleyball team (0-3) came back winless from the Wildcat Challenge, with losses against Northwestern, Boise State, and Belmont. Sophomore Atlanta Moye-McLaren, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, stood out with a team-leading 33 kills and also contributed 28 digs over the weekend. Read more>>
Women's Golf Madeline Steinberg / Columbia Daily Spectator
The women’s golf team began its fall season this weekend with a promising second-place finish out of 17 teams competing in the Bucknell Invitational. The team shot a 922 over three rounds of play, tying with Seton Hall and ending up 10 strokes behind the winner, William & Mary. Senior Michelle Piyapattra, the 2011-2012 Ivy League Player of the Year, finished first in the individual standings with a score of 222. The team will next be in action at the 2013 Golf Alumni Tournament on Sept. 20.
