The women’s tennis team completed yet another strong all-around performance at the Cissie Leary Invitational this weekend, continuing the Lions’ strong start to their fall season.
The team’s success was led by its two doubles pairings—the No. 29 duo of sophomore Kanika Vaidya and senior Bianca Sanon and the team of junior Crystal Leung and first-year Tina Jiang. Leung and Jiang reached the semifinals before losing to Cornell’s Alexandra D’Ascenzo and Dena Tanenbaum, the pair that Vaidya and Sanon dispatched in the finals en route to capturing the doubles title.
The Lions found success across the roster in singles play as well.
“It was a great team effort. We had five girls reach the quarterfinals in singles in their respective draw, and they’re going to continue to work really hard and reach their full potential,” head coach Ilene Weintraub said.
The Lions head to the Georgia State Invitational next weekend, while Vaidya and Sanon travel to the All-American Championships in Los Angeles.
