Despite the government shutdown this week, the Columbia men’s golf team will compete in the Stars and Stripes Invitational at West Point Golf Course this weekend. On Tuesday, the Department of Defense announced the temporary suspension of all college athletic competitions at service academies, jeopardizing host Army’s participation in the invitational, as well as the event itself. According to a statement released Thursday morning by Army Athletics, the invitational will proceed as scheduled. The Lions, who have opened the season with back-to-back top-five finishes, look to build on their impressive start as they enter play this Sunday.
