Following its stellar win at the Notre Dame Invitational, men’s cross country has vaulted from No. 30 to No. 8 in the nation. It’s the highest ranking in program history, besting the No. 10 Columbia achieved last season. The Light Blue also took the No. 1 spot in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association northeast regional poll this week, improving from No. 4 in the previous USTFCCCA poll. In their victory, the Lions beat seven teams in the top 30 at the Notre Dame Invitational—including No. 9 Tulsa and No. 10 Princeton—spurring the mammoth jump in the standings. After taking fifth place at the Paul Short Invitational, the women also made waves in the national poll by earning 32 points—just shy of landing them a spot in the top 30.
