Former Marine Nick Hesselgrave needed something tough to occupy his time after leaving the armed forces, and decided to try out for the rowing team.
The lacrosse, softball, and rowing teams all fell in a rough final weekend.
The softball team lost four games to Penn, scoring only five runs in the process.
The Lions face a strong pitching team in Lehigh, led by freshman Emily Bausher.
Check out what happened this weekend in Columbia athletics.
Columbia held Princeton's offense in check for four games and provided enough offense in two of them to split with the Tigers.
Although the Lions have lost their last three games, they have a great chance to win this weekend as they play a Princeton team that has lost its last four games.
Women's tennis finishes the Ivy season, softball hosts the Tigers for two doubleheaders, lacrosse plays Harvard in its last home game of the season, track and field heads to Princeton for the Larry Ellis Invitational, lightweight rowing participates in the Geiger Cup and the Subin Cup, heavyweight rowing races for the Doc Lusins Trophy, women's rowing competes for the Dunn Bowl, and men's golf tees off at the Navy Invitational.
Lions drew the first blood in both games against Knights but ended up losing, 4-1 and 4-3.
Before returning to conference play, the Lions will play an offensively-depleted team in Fairleigh Dickinson.
