For her Spring 2008 collection, designer Michelle Smith focused on what she does best – fun, youthful sportswear. Milly’s typical silhouette fits in perfectly with the upcoming season’s fondness for all things preppy, feminine, and streamlined. The collection could easily be characterized as “geek chic” – with models sporting cashmere sweaters tied around their necks and many peering through oversized spectacles. Nautical themes pervaded many of the looks, ranging from a wide crème sailor pant with oversized gold buttons to a navy fitted overcoat. Milly’s signature coquettish prints returned in full force, largely featuring blues, greens, and whites. A beige straw hat was paired with a pink floral bikini, while retro cloth bathing caps topped off the flirty sundresses. For those enthralled with Milly’s fresh, chic aesthetic, Michelle Smith’s recent collection undoubtedly delivers.
