Inspired by a sunset over the Caribbean Sea, John Crocco designed Perry Ellis’ spring 2008 collection in hues of “cloud,” “deck,” and “sail.” His turtlenecks and tank tops in wool, cashmere, and silk blends paired with smartly cut suits and blazers are perfect for a seaside jaunt. Marrying his individual style with that of a historical design label, Crocco maintains the Perry Ellis identity of “ non-traditional, modern classics.” This seemingly contradictory phrase materialized in a pinstripe suit worn over a polyester storm jacket in bright orange and in comfortable sweaters with shawl collars, a hit in past seasons. Both Nigel Barker, a judge on America’s Next Top Model, and Stefano Tonchi of the New York Times Magazine seemed pleased with the look of comfort and effortless elegance.
