From paneled racer-back shifts to sleek trouser shorts, Richard Chai’s elegant basics with a twist whispered minimalist elegance. Spring’s muted palette and metallic footwear popped up again on Chai’s pale, ethereal models. Tanya Dziahileva wore an artfully draped cowl neck top in faded blush over a long jersey dress that skimmed and rippled around the body. Other modern yet feminine styles included Chai’s updated bubble dresses that poufed at the hip and a silk gown that faded in and out of a gray graphic print. Standout menswear-inspired pieces included a striking single-breasted blazer over trim knee-length shorts, both in Yves Klein blue, and a silk charmeuse cocktail dress that resembled a gentleman’s waistcoat. Chai demonstrated a deft hand with understated detailing, like beautifully executed seams in long columns that traced a woman’s curves. The designer’s talent for refined sensuality proved irresistibly chic.
