Designer Wenlan Chia shows off her penchant for kitsch with signature playful motifs and prints on body-conscious clothes. Nipped waists and defined bust lines ruled for spring 2008, following the predominant trend of fashion week. Dresses, skirts, and pants featured sea-inspired themes, in line with this spring’s nautical looks, while blues, grays and creams anchored the palette. Twinkle was initially conceived as a knitwear line, but in addition to heavyweight fabrics, the collection featured a variety of airier materials, including satin and sheer overlays. Belts, a staple accessory for fall, will be here to stay at Twinkle in both fabric and leather forms and a variety of shades. While the quirk of Chia’s previous collections hasn’t faded, longtime buyers as well as recent fans now have the option of more form-fitting, feminine silhouettes.
