Stylishly eclectic seemed to be the thrust behind Alessandro Sartori’s spring collection, as silhouettes for the men’s line ranged from billowing and loose to slim and narrow. Fabrics, meanwhile, ran the gamut from chunky gauge knits to a shiny, waxed cotton.  The clothing bordered on ruggedly urban: modern day explorers who still have big city dinner dates and nights to follow. Sporty parkas and functional canvas backpacks were juxtaposed with modern tailored suits and sophisticated formal wear. Skinny yet still classically elegant trousers gave a young downtown twist to the nightly semi formal uniform, while jackets of tissue-like fabric and flowing, nearly skirt-like shorts were practically built for warm days under the sun. Sartori kept the suit shapes thin, often with an elongating 3 or even 4 button blazer, making for striking and small lapels.  Plunging necklines on shawl collar cardigans worked wonderfully as casual or formal wear, and knicker-like cropped trousers maintained an edgy yet playful feel.  The serious tones of whites, grays, blacks, and dark blues, along with the confidently strong cuts kept the collection serious, but never too stuffy.
