Men are the New Women on Big Shots

“Men. We’re the new women.” That gem comes from Big Shots, the show hyped as Sex and the City for men, after Joshua Malina (Karl Mixworthy), Dylan McDermott (Duncan Collingsworth), Christopher Titus (Brody Johns), and Michael Vartan(James Auster) are done whining about their “stressful” lives. Unfortunately, the show does not have the sex appeal of Samantha or the philosophical musings of Carrie.

Big Shots follows four big-shot CEOs through their family life, or lack thereof, questionable business practices, and even one transvestite hooker. While a male audience will certainly not be interested in listening to the men dishing in towels around the pool, women might not be either.

No woman will want to hear the quartet of men that the show revolves around complaining about the problems they got themselves into for cheating on their wives or for being forced to—gasp—throw their wife a birthday party, while degrading women at the same time. Auster is the only sympathetic character and the redeeming man of the show, along with the gorgeous McDermott. Although the lead-in from Grey’s Anatomy might initially draw an audience, it should fizzle out a few episodes.
