PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 25, 2007

In a week of presidents from afar coming to Columbia, Barnard will be electing its own leadership.

Voting begins tonight for the Barnard College class of 2011 first-year elections. Below the top of the ticket, The position of treasurer will be filled through an application process, according to Laura Stoffel, BC’08 Student Government Association president. Those who would like to be class representatives will run for appointment and then go through appointment procedures to secure the position. “It’s going to be a very competitive race,” Stoffel said. “The first-years are very eager—it’s great.”

The candidates began campaigning officially by posting fliers starting at 10 p.m. last night.

Stoffel offered a few words of advice to the candidates: “Learn about campus issues, introduce yourself to students on campus, and flier where students go ... [but] most of all, have fun.”

Voting will begin at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night via eBear and will conclude Friday at 2 p.m. Results should be posted on eBear at about 5 p.m. Friday evening.
