This year, both the men's and women's golf teams were extremely successful,
with the culmination of their efforts being a first-place finish for the men
and second-place finish for the women at the Ivy League championships.

The Columbia wrestling team (7-7, 3-2 Ivy) enjoyed a solid season throughout the winter, competing in a large number of matches every weekend.

After tremendous play at the Ivy League Championship last week, the Columbia men’s golf team has earned a bid at the 2008 NCAA regional qualifier.

It was a tremendous weekend for both the Columbia men’s and women’s golf teams at Ivy League Championships. The men won the championship title for the second time in program history, and the women came in a close second, only ten strokes behind first-place finisher Harvard.

The women rounded off league play with the self-hosted Second Annual Roar-EE Invitational in Mamaroneck, N.Y. at the Hampshire Country Club and placed seventh out of 14 teams at the tournament.

Despite rainy conditions, the Columbia women’s golf team completed its first tournament since its return from winter training, finishing sixth in a pool of fourteen teams in the Hoya Women’s Invitational.

The Columbia men’s and women’s golf teams have recently returned from their separate training trips and are ready to start their spring season. The women went to Hawaii where they competed in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kaneohe, finishing eighth out of 16 teams. The men’s team traveled to California, where it competed in two tournaments, the Diablo Grande at Drake University and the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz.

The Columbia men’s swimming and diving team (4-5, 1-4 Ivy) will be competing against two Ivy League teams this weekend. The Light Blue will race on the road against Princeton on Friday and will then return back to New York to take on Dartmouth on Saturday.

This Friday evening, the Columbia wrestling team (2-3) will compete against Bucknell (7-1-8) at home in the second to last meet of the nonconference schedule.

The Columbia men’s swimming and diving team (3-4, 0-4 Ivy) will compete this Saturday against Brown.

The Columbia men’s soccer team (3-10, 0-4 Ivy) lost its second consecutive game yesterday by a score of 3-1 against Adelphi University in Queens. Adelphi (3-10-2) has had almost as unsuccessful a season as Columbia, but turned in one of its best showings of the season to beat the Lions on Wednesday night.

The Columbia field hockey team (10-6, 4-2 Ivy) sealed its fourth consecutive Ivy League victory of the season against Yale yesterday at the Field Hockey Venue by a final score of 3-1. The Lions are now in a four-way tie for second place in the league with Harvard, Penn, and Cornell. With one league match remaining in the season against Harvard, the Light Blue will end the year with its best season record since 2000, when the team won 13 games.

Today, the Columbia women’s volleyball team (3-15, 0-7 Ivy) will have its second faceoff of the season against Penn.

The Columbia men’s soccer team (2-1-7, 0-2 Ivy) will resume its search for its first Ivy League victory this Saturday against Dartmouth.

The Columbia field hockey team (5-5, 1-2 Ivy) is looking to create a win streak and to earn its sixth win of the season this afternoon against the Hofstra Pride (6-7).

The Lions are racing at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park this Friday and the outlook for both the men’s and women’s squads is good.

Columbia volleyball played a solid match on Wednesday night against Manhattan College, grabbing its first win of the season.
