Engineering Class Elects Council

PUBLISHED OCTOBER 1, 2007

Kamal Yechoor of the Fu-Tang Clan was announced president of the SEAS class of 2011 after a day’s delay last Friday night.

Yechoor’s ticket, which included vice president Mike Wymbs and representative Jiaying Xu, all SEAS ’11, took 58 percent of the votes. Dana Ibarra, SEAS ’11, of The Fu Element party won the other class representative position. More than half of first-years voted in the online elections.

“I’d like to get as many people as possible to join the class council so we can plan some events,” Yechoor said upon winning. “We’re going to look to see how the rest of the ESC is attempting to address some issues and fit what we want to do with that.”

The results of the elections were scheduled to be announced Thursday night. Krissie Zambrano, SEAS ’09 and ESC Secretary, said that the delay was caused by some violations of campaigning rules. While details were not disclosed, certain candidates were campaigning in a prohibited manner. While some of the cases were dismissed, one was not.

“I’m looking forward to working with the other members on the ESC and hopefully getting some stuff done,” Yechoor said.
