A flower delivery van ran over an elderly woman on Amsterdam Avenue Thursday morning, trapping her between the pavement and the car’s roaring undercarriage for several minutes until rescue units were able to lift the vehicle.

At 9:45 a.m., the 71-year-old victim walked into oncoming traffic just south of 114th Street and was struck by the large white van. Lying on her left shoulder, she momentarily lost consciousness as the vehicle’s underside pinned her down to the ground.

The driver of the van, who spoke calmly to the woman when she eventually came to, was not cited for the incident, and police said no misconduct was suspected. But the driver was brought to court on an outstanding warrant on an unrelated issue.

Minutes after the accident, FDNY rescue units used hydraulic equipment to lift the vehicle, pulling the woman to safety.

The victim went into surgery and was in critical condition at St. Luke’s Hospital last night, police said.
