Hogarty Will Take On COO Post at Medical Center
Lisa Hogarty, executive vice president for student and administrative services, will move uptown in December as the new chief operating officer of the Columbia University Medical Center, CUMC Dean Lee Goldman announced in an e-mail to faculty yesterday.
During her time in student and administrative services, Hogarty oversaw the Secure Identity and Access Control project which is now resulting in the replacement of old CUIDs and will allow for off-campus Flex use, implemented the Student Services Transformation Initiative to streamline how students deal with administrative services, and is implementing a multi-modal emergency notification system. Before coming to Columbia in 2002, Hogarty worked in the health services industry for nine years, a background that Senior Executive Vice President Robert Kasdin said will serve her well in her new position.
“Lisa is an extraordinary manager with experience in the health care world,” Kasdin said. “She will be magnificent,” he added.
For her part, Hogarty said she is most excited about the opportunity to use her prior experience while still remaining at Columbia.
“The new role is similar to what I’ve been doing at Morningside in that I’ll be leading human resources, information technology, and student services for the medical center community,” she said in an e-mail. “The big addition to my portfolio is facilities management. And this to me is particularly exciting because of my knowledge about and background in managing health care facilities.”
Kasdin will direct the search for Hogarty’s successor, but he declined to comment on a timeline or process for the hire. Hogarty and Kasdin said that they don’t anticipate students being impacted by the transition.

Lisa hogarty is one of the few high level adminstrators receptive to student input. Robert Kasdin is DICK CHENEY. When they say this won't effect students, Spectator, DONT BELIEVE THEM.
