Brangelina Takes On New York

Somewhere between working it on the red carpet and saving the planet, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie squeezed in time to find a posh pad in the Big Apple.

According to the New York Post, the power couple are paying $100,000 per month to rent a luxurious, 6000 square-foot apartment in The Waldorf Towers on East 50th Street. The close proximity to the United Nations will make a quick commute for Jolie, who is a goodwill ambassador.

The new digs boast five bedrooms and a library which has been converted into a sixth bedroom, six baths, incredible city views, and a top-of-the-line kitchen, according to the Post.

With twice-daily maid service and a weekly magic show for the kids, Brad and is brood are pretty much guaranteed blissful living. Security should not be a problem for Pitt and Jolie because the building is used to having high-profile residents.

“If they can take care of the leaders of the free world, these people shouldn’t be that much of a problem,” a building source said, referring to the Towers’ past guests, including every U.S. president since Herbert Hoover.

Man Gets Chilly Results from Selling Drugs out of Ice Cream Truck

Usually an ice cream truck’s jingle is followed by the laughter and foot thumping of neighborhood children. For Domenico Pedalino, it was followed by a police siren.
Pedalino, 27, was arrested on Sunday for selling cocaine and marijuana out of a Mister Softee ice-cream truck, according to the New York Post.

Police caught him at 5:25 p.m. on 159th Street and 29th Avenue in Queens. At the time, the truck was parked and kids were lined up to buy ice cream.

The Bayside resident was allegedly making money in two ways, selling treats to both kids and adults. But for adults, the treats were illegal substances rather than high-calorie ones, and his business deals are sure to cost him more than an ice cream sandwich.

Bloomberg Backs Torre After Tough Loss

As Yankee fans question the abilities of Joe Torre, Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke out to say that the manager should stay, according to the New York Daily News.

After a tough loss to the Cleveland Indians, many New Yorkers along with Yankee’s owner George Steinbrenner have called for a new manager.

Yesterday, Bloomberg defended Torre and encouraged Steinbrenner to bring back the well-known manager in spite of the rough season ending. He also put in a good word about the Mets and their manager Willie Rudolph, whose poor performance caused them to be eliminated before the playoffs even began.

“You know, sometimes the ball just doesn’t go out of the park, sometimes the pitch doesn’t go over the plate,” Bloomberg told reporters. “And you can have great people and great coaching and it’s just not meant to be.”

According to the Daily News, Steinbrenner said he would likely fire Torre unless the Yankees won in the first-round series of the playoffs. But the team lost to the Indians in just four games.

“I’m a big Joe Torre and Willie Randolph fan, and in both cases I think they could run anything,” Bloomberg said to the Daily News. “I don’t get a vote in any of this but if I owned the teams, that’s what I would do.”
