It is hard for many to see the swastika as a symbol of well-being. And yet, more than 75 undergraduates, graduate students, Morningside Heights residents, and religious leaders gathered Wednesday night at the Kraft Center to discuss two very different perspectives of a powerful symbol that was blackened by its connection with Nazi Germany.

Student council members from Columbia’s affiliates have teamed up to create a campus-wide undergraduate calendar, advertising everything from group meetings to parties. So far, 35 student groups and organizations have participated in this calendar, which debuted nearly two weeks ago.

Members of Community Board 7, along with 20 residents of the Morningside Heights neighborhood, gathered Wednesday night to discuss the addition of a new bar to an area that already boasts many.

“Islamofascism Awareness Week”—and the invitation of David Horowitz, CC ’59 to Columbia—has conservative, liberal, and religious groups braced for debate.

Starting as early as next semester, Columbia students may be able to use Flex points at local businesses to pay for food off campus.
