Men's Basketball Drops Season Opener

After a crippling 15-0 run by Fordham in the first half, the Columbia men's basketball team was unable to mount a comeback Friday night, falling to the Rams 79-61 in their season opener at Levien Gymnasium.

The Lions were paced by senior John Baumann and bolstered by solid bench play from Joe Bova and Patrick Foley. Baumann, who collected seven rebounds, and Foley, who dished out seven assists, co-led the Light Blue in scoring with 13 points apiece. Bova, meanwhile, pitched in with 10 points in 28 minutes.

Ultimately, it wasn't enough to make up for the 19-point deficit left by Fordham's 5 1/2 minute deluge.

The Lions return to action Monday against Delaware State in the opening round of the Pre-season NIT at Ohio State.

I am going on a hunger strike until they win..no better yet the team should be forced to go on a hunger strike for losing the game!!!!!!!

You know a 15 point run can be demoralizing. Maybe they would've fared better if they had been in contention in the first half.

That's another way to look at it. Hmmm

Factually, if Fordham had not scored those 15 points, the Lions STILL lose. I think they are going to have a pretty good year, but don't go oveboard with the leaky logic.
