“My train is the 1 train!” To most at Columbia this observation might seem mundane. I, however, found it particularly striking only because during my last nine months as a student at the University, my train has not been the 1, but the B and C trains.

When it officially opened in the fall of 2006, Cathedral Gardens was the pride and joy of Barnard’s Office of Residential Life and Housing. However, after five months of living in Cathedral Gardens, I’ve changed my tune. Sadly, there are some key elements of the CG experience that the Barnard ResLife Web site conveniently neglects to mention.

The speedboat sped through crystal clear azul waters, bumping across boat wakes, past beaches teaming with day-tripping tourists and resort-goers crammed umbrella-to-umbrella on the Dominican Republic’s south shore.
