At least two Morningside Heights stores were robbed late last week, although more may have been victims as well.

Liberty House, a clothing store located at 2878A Broadway on West 112th Street, was victim of an attempted robbery. At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, a male suspect “requested for the workers and customers to go to the back of the store, opened his bag, and then demanded cash,” an official at the New York Police Department’s Deputy Commission for Public Information said.

“One worker ran out of the store screaming, causing the suspect to flee empty-handed,” police said. Police said they did not find the suspect after a canvassing of the area, and the investigation is ongoing.

Aerosoles, a shoe store at 2913 Broadway and West 114th Street, lost $250 in another robbery on Friday, though police did not say whether the two crimes were related. A police official said the suspect demanded cash from the register and told the victim to stay in the back room, but did not show a weapon. Police said they did not find the suspect.
