Over the Wire

Like Rock Band? Then you’ll love Rez HD. Seven years ago, Sega released an incredibly innovative shooter called Rez, kicking off the music game craze that swept through gaming. The game was unlike anything seen before—crazy wire-frame style graphics, techno and electronica music that modulated based on how you played, and, wildly enough, an included peripheral called the “trance vibrator,” a little square device that simulated the effect of being in front of a huge speaker at a club. Sega has remade the game using full high-definition graphics and digital surround sound for Xbox Live Arcade—and it’s an incredible experience that no one should miss. The game plays like a mix of StarFox and Guitar Hero, which sounds complicated but is actually pretty relaxing. At only 800 MS Points ($10), Rez HD makes the perfect downloadable game.
