Dance Marathon
It’s not really music, but go and support the dancers at the Dance Marathon on Saturday. They are going to be up for almost 30 hours, so go, listen to the music, and cheer as they work to fight pediatric AIDS. The event takes place on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Roone Arledge Auditorium.
"Howl" -- A Night of Music and Jazz
Jack Kerouac seems to be all the rage right now, with an exhibit at the New York Public Library and Butler Library. The Alumni Association is putting on its fourth annual “howl” festival, but this year’s also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Kerouac’s On the Road. The day of events concludes with jazz from 8-10 p.m. with prolific composer David Amram, and it’s free with RSVP. (http://alumni.columbia.edu/nyc)
Complete Beethoven String Quartets
If you’re free during lunchtime this Monday through Wednesday, the Pacifica Quartet is playing for free in Philosophy Hall from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. But if you miss it this time, don’t worry—they’ll do it again in a few weeks. (http://www.millertheatre.com/E...)
