GSSC Social Chair Resigns

PUBLISHED FEBRUARY 11, 2008

General Studies Student Council Social Chair Ashley Forman announced her resignation Sunday night in an e-mail, obtained by Spectator, to General Studies Dean Dominic Stellini and members of the GSSC executive board.

Forman could not be reached for comment last night. In the incendiary e-mail, she cited frustrations in working with her colleagues and especially in planning the annual GS gala on a strapped budget.

“I started my term as social chair running out of the gate, collecting vendor info, and working to secure people to assist in planning this party,” Forman wrote. She later continued, “Right now, I no longer believe in this party and feel as though it has lost its special meaning.”

The gala has been at the center of recent GSSC debate, as members have deliberated how to plan this year’s event with a smaller budget than in previous years.

“I refuse to stress people out nor myself in this process,” Forman wrote.

GSSC President Niko Cunningham could not be reached, and Vice President of Communications Brody Berg declined comment at this time.
