Alba Mota, listed in the Columbia directory as a student at the School of Social Work, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and released Thursday evening after being arraigned on charges that include forgery and grand larceny, according to a spokesperson for the Bronx Arraignment Clerk’s office.
The office said that Mota’s court date is set for May 5, and that she has also been charged with criminal impersonation, scheming to defraud, and possession of forged documents.
Mota currently serves as public relations director for the Dominican student organization Grupo Quisqueyano. An e-mail sent to the GQ board and forwarded to Spectator stated that Mota's arrest had been "injust" and called on members to join “many people including community activists, elected officials, and a top attorney” in attending her arraignment.
