After pushing back the voting deadline a day to accommodate technical difficulties, the Engineering Student Council announced the results of the class president and vice president positions in the council’s internal elections on Saturday afternoon.
Heather Lee, SEAS ’10 and current 2010 class president, was elected by a wide margin of 80 votes.
The online voting started April 8 at midnight and had originally been scheduled to end April 10 at 6 p.m., but the deadline was pushed back a day due to confusion in misspelled voting ballots and technical difficulties in the online candidate videos.
“We wanted to give people a chance to make sure they could see their [candidates’] videos and not just platforms,” current ESC President Liz Strauss, SEAS ’08, explained. “It took us longer to have the voting site working. We held off most of the publicity of elections as well.”
In the race for senator, Rajat Roy, SEAS ’10 and SGA liaison, came out the victor in his campaign against Brian Pan, SEAS ’10.
Albert Miller, SEAS ’11, replaced Jiaying Xu, SEAS ’11, as 2011 class representative. The race for 2009 class representative was comparatively more competitive. Krissie Zambrano, SEAS ’09, and James Tsai, SEAS ’09, of the SEASONING party were elected 2009 class representatives over Esther Zuckerman, SEAS ’09.
The remaining positions were uncontested.
