Columbia Golf Teams Go Seventh, Eighth in Weekend Competitions

PUBLISHED APRIL 14, 2008

The Columbia men’s and women’s golf teams were in action this weekend at different venues, as the men traveled to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational and the women were home to host the second annual Roar-ee Invitational.

The men’s golf team finished eighth out of 15 teams at the Princeton Invitational, which concluded with the Red Storm of St. John’s taking first place. The Red Storm held off Princeton and George Mason as it proceeded to win the event by four strokes. The event was close the entire way, as both Princeton and George Mason made pushes for the championship title. Two St. John’s players, Keegan Bradley and Evan Beirne, tied for the lead at -1 overall, also split the individual title. Cashel Rosier was Columbia’s highest finisher, coming in 25th place, and was followed closely by Clark Granum at 27th. Justin Lee, Austin Quinten and August Quartararo rounded out the side for the Lions, and each player finished inside the top 45 overall.

The women played host for the Second Annual Roar-ee Invitational where Brigham Young University took home the top prize. The individual title went to Brigham Young player Natalia Jimenez who shot five strokes ahead of teammate J. Wightman Erekson. Columbia, led by sophomore Stevy Loy in 15th place, finished seventh out of 14 teams. Jennifer Adyorough finished in 19th place to round out the top of the scorecard for the Lions.

Both the men and the women will be traveling to Atlantic City, N.J. this weekend for the Ivy League Championships, where the women will be looking to defend last season’s title.
