Fix-it

PUBLISHED JANUARY 31, 2007

Last week, Fix-it brought up hot water issues in Carman. Daniel Held, a director of communications for Columbia's Department of Finance and Administration, wrote in an e-mail that Facilities is monitoring the system daily and regularly cleaning the "hot water return line" in order to help eliminate waiting for hot water. Also, Facilities will install new domestic pumps in Carman, as part of a campus-wide infrastructure upgrade still in the planning stages.

This week, we find that printer A in Barnard's 616 computer lab has been broken since before winter break, according to students who live in the dormitory. "I don't even remember when it was last working," Gavi Goldstein, BC '07, said. A sign posted on the printer's screen since before winter break informs residents that it is out of order, and to use printer B which, according to Goldstein, is hardly more reliable.
