Lions Pound Crimson, 90-70
Columbia men's basketball ended a pair of losing streaks on Friday night with a 90-70 blowout victory over Harvard, snapping their current Ivy skid and quashing a second against the Crimson dating back to the 2004-05 season.
With the game tied at three, Niko Scott sparked a 24-7 run that put the Lions up by 20 only 10 minutes into the contest. The Lions shot a blistering 84.6 percent from behind the three-point line in the first half, hitting 11-13 from downtown en route to a 54-28 halftime lead.
Columbia didn't stop putting pressure on after the break, increasing their lead to 32 points at one point. With Harvard's Brian Cusworth having left the team due to his graduation last week, the Lions were able to expose the Crimson throughout the contest.
Junior power forward John Baumann led Columbia with 17 points, 13 of which came in the second half. The freshman backcourt of Scott and Patrick Foley added 26 points, each contributing 13, while junior point guard Brett Loscalzo was the fourth Lion in double figures with 11 points.
The Light Blue continue their upper New England road trip with Dartmouth tonight at 7 p.m at Leede Arena.
