Peanuts, Pooh and Puppy Love Valentine
Like it or not, Valentine's Day is one of the biggest holidays on television-and this year proves to be no exception. As not all shows have the opportunity to air next Wednesday, the holiday more closely resembles Valentine's Week than Valentine's Day. So, whether you're a fan of drama or comedy, specials or series, or even a bit cynical about the holiday, there's something for everyone coming up in the next few days.
This weekend promises to make everyone feel the love. On Saturday night, ABC is going back to childhood with back-to-back specials. At 8 p.m., A Charlie Brown Valentine follows the lovable Peanuts gang as Charlie Brown decides to invite the little red-haired girl to the Valentine's dance, but is thwarted when he reaches Peppermint Patty instead. At 8:30 p.m., Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You finds Christopher Robindealing with his first crush, while his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood try to cure his lovesickness. On Sunday night, ABC takes a more adult turn as Brothers & Sisters embraces the holiday spirit when Kitty and Senator McCallister, played by the always romantic Rob Lowe, find it difficult to ignore their undeniable sexual tension.
Monday night starts the work week off with a flurry of Valentine's spirit on CBS's The Class at 8:30 p.m. When a snowstorm hits the area, the classmates are trapped, away from their significant others but stuck with each other. The night's festivities continue on NBC at 10 p.m. when Matt remembers the early days of his relationship with Harriet, a conceit that is sure to provide insight into Studio 60's most dysfunctional couple.
The day before Valentine's Day promises romance and heartbreak on the CW. At 8 p.m., loyal viewers of Gilmore Girls will see the Luke-Lorelai-Christopher love triangle reach a major turning point while Logan and Rory get closer together. The love drama continues at 9 p.m., as Veronica must deal with the fallout of her most recent breakup with Logan on Veronica Mars.
Valentine's Week reaches its conclusion on Wednesday in a night full of romance-sort of. On The Knights of Prosperity (ABC, 8:30 p.m.), a former lover takes Esperanza hostage and the Knights must rescue her. Down in Dillon, Texas, despite rising tensions, Matt tries to win back Julie on Friday Night Lights on NBC at 8 p.m.. Bones, also at 8 p.m. on Fox, heats up as Agent Sullivan courts Dr. Brennan, and Booth returns from leave. All in all, it's a week of television worth watching. The romantic heart of every show will be exposed as the stage is set for the season's biggest turning points. So, be sure to make some time this week for getting lost in other people's romantic troubles and triumphs apart from of your own.
