Remote Recap: Tuesday Night on The CW
Last night's Gilmore Girls has been a long time coming. Since September, everyone has known that it was only a matter of time before Luke and Lorelai got back together. Yet, the episode as a whole was fairly unnecessary. All plotlines other than the Luke-Lorelai-Christopher love triangle have become absolutely ridiculous, as has the supporting cast. But for the first time ever, Sookie had the best line of the episode, with, "Would Christopher be the one?" The look on Lorelai's face said it all. In that moment she realized-she knew-that no matter how much she thought she wanted to be married to Christopher, Luke is the one for her. By the end of the episode, it became clear that Lauren Graham should win an Emmy for this episode. Her breakdown was probably the best speech she's given in the entire seven seasons of the show.
Following the emotional hour of Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars seemed a little off. Despite the presence of a stereotypically wise little girl who teaches a main character something about love, the plot line was surprisingly touching. It's not a shock that it took a strong-willed girl to get Logan past his Veronica heartache, though the fact that it was a child was definitely unexpected. Despite the solid emotional core of the episode, the mystery was severely lacking. The fact that the murder of the basketball coach, which was introduced last night, will be a two-parter does not bode well for the uncertain future of this show. Hopefully, next week's conclusion will be a chance for Veronica to show her edgy side, which has been lacking this season.
